Sealants

An advantage to getting a sealant is that it will protect your teeth from decay. It also makes cleaning easier because there are no deep grooves for bacteria or food particles to get stuck in, so you won't have as much trouble with buildup on any one area of the tooth's surface. Sealing can prevent 75% of dental caries - which means less time at dentist appointments and healthier gums over long periods.

Sealants can protect teeth from decay for many years, but need to be checked for wear and chipping at regular dental visits.

Reasons for sealants:

  • Children and teenagers – As soon as the six-year molars (the first permanent back teeth) appear or any time throughout the cavity prone years of 6-16.
  • Adults – Tooth surfaces without decay that have deep grooves or depressions.
  • Baby teeth – Occasionally done if teeth have deep grooves or depressions and child is cavity prone.

What do sealants involve?

Sealants are easily applied by your dentist or dental hygienist and the process takes only a couple of minutes per tooth.

After your teeth are thoroughly cleaned, they will be covered with cotton to keep the area dry. A special solution is applied that helps sealants bond better and more permanently than ever before! Your new smile can last a lifetime if you take care of it properly at home by eating balanced diets on time every day as well as getting regular checkups from us here in our office so please don't hesitate asking any questions or concerns today .
